Shari Silady, IBCLC, RLC
Shari is the owner and founder of Shari’s Lactation Services. Shari sees herself foremost as a Mama of 4 beautiful breastfed grown children and the Nana to 3 gorgeous breastfed grandchildren. After graduating from college, Shari supported her husband through his graduate studies. After graduate school Shari became a stay-at-home mother.
Shari began attending La Leche League during her pregnancy with her first baby. With the help of a LLL Leader she successfully overcame some initial difficulties breastfeeding her first baby, and went on to breastfeed all four babies. Those years are Shari’s fondest memories, and the inspiration for what has become her life’s work.
After raising her children, Shari was talking about returning to work with a friend who asked, “What is your passion? Just follow your heart.” Shari knew that her passion was helping mothers to be the best mothers they can be through breastfeeding. Breastfeeding is not just a way to nourish a baby, it is a way to nurture and love a baby.
Shari has been a La Leche League leader since 1975. Her volunteer work in LLL prepared her for the knowledge and experience to become a Professional Lactation Consultant. Shari passed the Lactation Boards in 2002. Shari has worked as a Lactation Consultant at the Naval Military Hospital, Pomerado Hospital, Pomerado Lactation Clinic and her own Private Practice “Shari’s Lactation Services”. Shari still serves as a LLL Leader, she is the Assistant Area Professional Liaison for LLL of Southern California and is on the Continuing Education Committee for the Southern California area Conference every May. Shari has also been a guest speaker for La Leche League.
Shari is a member of the International Lactation Consultant Association, The United States Lactation Consultant Association, The San Diego County Breastfeeding Coalition, The International Affiliation of Tongue-tie Professionals, and La leche League International.
