Breastfeeding your baby will bring you a joy that words cannot express.  The feeling you get when you nourish your baby at your breast and see your baby grow and thrive on your breastmilk is awesome.  Breastfeeding is the natural way to feed your baby, and I encourage you to make this choice because there is no substitute for mother's milk.  It is species specific, making it the best nutrition on earth for your baby.  That said, I want mothers to remember to go easy on yourselves because while it is the natural way to feed baby, it's also a learned skill on your part as well as baby's.  Lactation consultants like myself exist because of this learning curve.  It's different for every mombaby unit, which is why it's important to get professional assistance during your own initial learning process and beyond.
